What Will Make this Year a Fulfilling Year?

As we head into the Jewish New Year I am thinking about (a lot of things! including) what would make this year a fulfilling year for me.

This year, when we are also at the start of a new school year, my husband and I decided to sign our youngest child up to a longer day in pre-school. This was a difficult decision for me to make as I was admitting to myself that him coming home earlier in the day (at 2p.m.) would make it difficult for me to get a good day’s work in and then be present with him. I knew that it would be hard, and yet I was able to do it with our other children. I had to admit to myself that I was in a different place in my life now and that this was the best choice for both me and my son. With this new change, I now have more time to myself. This is both really great, and challenging at the same time. The challenge that comes with me having more time is to use my time wisely. I want to make the most of my time. I want to be productive and not waste the time that I have.

In order to accomplish my goal of using my time productively, I sat down to think about the things I want to be doing and fill my time with. This led me to making a list of those things that bring me fulfillment. On my list I included working with clients, creating and providing workshops and courses, networking and meeting new people, walking while also listening to books (so fun and productive!), learning new things related to my work and running a business, learning about spirituality and personal growth, spending quality time with my family, taking care of our home, making tasty and wholesome meals for my family, and connecting with my good friends. Knowing that this is what is important to me helps me to take control of my time. What is left to do is to carve out the right time for each of these things. I am working on this and as I am doing so I am paying attention to my nature and circadian rhythm in my effort to choose the best times for me to do the things that I would like to do.

How about you?

What are some things you are thinking about at the start of this New Year, or start of this school year?

What brings you fulfillment?

What would you like to be doing with your time?

Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy, healthy, fulfilling and prosperous New Year!

In support and admiration,
