A few weeks ago a friend of mine and I went to Matan, a Jewish learning program for women. My friend had never been to Matan before and wanted to understand what it was. Excited to see Rabbanit Malka Bina, the founder and director of Matan, I ran over to her with my friend and introduced my friend to her. I told Rabbanit Bina that it was my friend’s first time here at Matan and that she wanted to know more about it. The Rabbanit went on to explain to my friend that Matan is “an innovative institution dedicated to furthering women’s Torah study at the highest levels, in a vibrant atmosphere that is open to diverse spiritual and intellectual perspectives. We achieve this through our innovative range of community – we have satellite programs in many different cities here in Israel – and online learning programs, with thousands of participants in Israel and around the world.”
Proud, I looked at Rabbanit Malka Bina and said, “Isn’t it amazing what you have created here? How is it for you to watch your vision become a reality?”
And this was Rabbanit Malka Bina’s response (note that it is not the response I was expecting, and yet I learned something extremely valuable from it):
“Vision! Who had vision?!
We were three women in a living room who wanted to learn Torah (Jewish texts.) We thought, ‘well certainly there are other women who want to learn Torah too!'”
And there you have it. While I believe that having a vision is important, especially as a vision gives you focus about what it is that you really want, what’s most important in accomplishing anything you want in life is taking action.
What is it that you have been thinking about doing or changing in your life, career, or relationships?
Stop thinking about it and start putting one foot in front of the other. Take action and just get started.
I am taking this lesson to heart by taking action myself on a project I have been thinking about for a while now, offering Free Webinars. In these Webinars I will go more into depth on the practical tips and tools I share here with you so that you can gain more skills you can apply to your life right away to make changes, improve, and live, love, and work better.
The first Webinar I am offering is entitled:
Your First 3 Steps to Getting Clear on Your Career Direction
It’s happening next week Wednesday, November 15th, at 1:30p.m. EST / 8:30p.m. Israel time.
You can register for that Free Webinar here.
I look forward to seeing you in the meeting room!
But before I go, I’d love to know, what will you be getting started on this week?
In support and admiration,
